Happy September! The summer is almost over. Can you believe how fast it flew by? I'm already spotting pumpkin spiced themed things everywhere. I really hope you've had a great time all season long. At least had a chance to relax and share good times with your loved ones. I'm also hoping you took care of yourself. I know I warn you enough- "Sunscreen, sunscreen, sunscreen!" But I can understand if not, some of us forget. Or maybe you decide you'll keep me busy with the damage for some time? Haha, just jokes. Well, what's done is done. Now it's time to look forward. Remember what that meant for us as children?

Back to school time! The joy, the excitement, the nerves. I don't know about you, but my favorite part was shopping for a whole new look down to my school supplies. A new pair of sneakers, backpack, and picking a different color palette was like a whole new persona. Not a false affectation, but really a new style that was my new philosophy to live by. Yeah, I was that type of kid- the artsy thinker. A trip to Staples or Office Max still brings back all that excitement, and a strange urge to stock up on cute folders.

Last week I shared about my spring and summer. My time of rebirth and growth. But my favorite time of year is actually the colder months. I love everything about the colder months including the cold. Even if you're more of the warm weather loving sort, there's still an advantage to the cooler months. The season of organizing and preserving what works, and planning or readdressing what didn't work. What better time to plan your amazing return in the spring than the autumn and winter times? Which brings me back to what I do. Conveniently, the best time of year to seriously work on skin issues is also the seasons ahead. Since the best time to treat and counteract sun damage is also when you're getting less of it. Yes, September to mid October is one of the busiest times for acne and aging specialists like myself. All that summer sunshine actually stimulates oil glands and acne bacteria creating a rebound of acne for some. Melanin glands that create dark spots, melasma, and scars get a good amount of abuse and damage in the too. Facials address the resulting dehydration and sun induced revenge acne. If you're prone to dryness then now is the time to hydrate preemptively before that winter wind burn. Enzyme peels like the I Am Radiant treatment are great place to start for all these issues. Regular high frequency treatments encourage collagen production, skin's firmness, and healing. While facials won't correct all of the damage, regular treatments are a great weapon to start fighting back. A good home skincare regimen being as equally an important part of the fight. Planning future goals and how to reach them is one way to keep life very interesting. I encourage you to consider what transformations you want to kick-start over the next few months. What gains made over this year are to be preserved? What aspect of your life needs to be put off to rest for a while, or nutured into a new stage? So it is almost like back to school time for us all again as well. Maybe I should stop off for some of those bright new folders? In the meantime, I hope your transition into Autumn is filled with delights. May it yield a magnificent rebirth of all your aspirations come Springtime. Hope to see you soon, Best regards, Norma R.
