Hi again! I hope you're well and enjoying the nice weather we've been having. I would've written sooner but March was a real whirlwind for me. A lot has happened since my last newsletter for me and the practice. It's been wonderful meeting and getting to know some of Paula's clientele- now my clientele. I honestly can't wait to meet the rest of you. I completely understand why she cared so much to leave you in good hands. In the meantime I've had to make a few changes which are mentioned below. Some changes are unavoidable, the rest I'm making with the hope of bringing you greater convenience. I'm still committed to making as few changes as possible unless it's for the absolute better. Wow Norma R.! I don't know what's harder for me to believe. That it's been a month already since Paula handed over the reins to me or that it's already April! Wasn't it just Christmas? Soon it'll be beach season and time to bare a little skin. If that makes you at all nervous don't worry I've included 6 easy tips to get you soft and smooth long before Memorial Day rolls around as well. I'll definitely be in touch,

Be and stay blessed Norma R. ,

6 Easy Get Ready For Spring Skin Care Tips

This winter was truly one of the coldest winters in recent memory. The

cold was especially brutal on our skin. Now the sun is finally making an appearance, and naturally our thoughts turn to wearing less layers. Reminding us once again of how drying this season has been. Before rushing to cover back up, give these 6 easy tips a try for softer skin from head to toe.

1. Seek a Specialist

I know, it's seems rather obvious that I'd say come and see me. But if you go to your average local drugstore, you'll be hard pressed to find a anybody who can give you good advice. That's why going to an esthetician even once is a good investment. A skin specialist can analyze your skin type, and personalize a skin care regimen. Plus a licensed skin specialist has access to professional grade products you simply won't find at any pharmacy or beauty shop. Professional grade products contain higher concentrations of active ingredients and less filler like water making them more effective with less product needed. In the end that's more economical than buying and trying every commercial brand on the shelf that simply won't ever be as effective.

2. Keep it Cool in the Shower

Oh that relaxing hot shower at the end of the day! What seems like a such a good thing is actually one of the most common ways we dry out our skin. I know it's difficult, but avoid hot showers. It's less drying to use warm water instead.

Some skin specialists would even suggest you end your shower with an as-cold-as-you-can-stand rinse if possible. The logic goes that cold water invigorates skin and will make you feel energized. It's also beneficial for blood circulation and even closes the cuticles of your hair helping it look shiny and smooth. But don't worry I'm not asking that of you. Also after you shower, instead of rubbing with the towel gently pat yourself dry before applying your favorite lotion. You'll notice a big difference in your skin with doing that alone.

3. Slough Off Dry Skin

While you're in your lukewarm shower don't forget to gently exfoliate. You've been going to Paula, and now me, to exfoliate your face, but your body is just as important. Getting rid of excess skin cell build up reveals the softer skin underneath allowing your skincare to penetrate better and deeper into your skin. Exfoliate your body 2-3 times a week to get rid of layers of dead skin cells that make your skin look and feel rough. Body brushes, loofahs sponges, exfoliating gloves, and all sorts of scrubs, there's so many options out that are effective. You can even make your own sugar scrub by adding sugar to a small amount of body wash or oil. Exfoliate gently in the shower using circular motions. Tougher areas of the body may actually need a stronger or just more sophisticated approach. Did you know that I can do a facial or even chem peel on body parts other than your face? This is a great option for those with breakouts on the back. Ask me about back facial treatments.

4. Don't Forget Your Hands & Feet

These parts are often the most neglected and in need special attention. At night before going to bed, exfoliate both hands and feet. Apply a thicker moisturizing cream, then slip on soft gloves and socks to maximize absorption. Leaving the gloves and socks on while you sleep will help you wake up with softer hands and feet.

5. Consider a Chem Peel

Scrubs will work wonders for your body. But areas like the face, back, chest, and neck can be trickier. Especially for those of us who suffer from excess skin cell build up that doesn't seem to shed properly (hyperkeratosis). Most people will only try to scrub harder- and that's a very bad idea. The truth is that you can't scrub off skin that isn't quite ready to go. And over scrubbing can actually lead to irritation, redness, breakouts, or damage such as micro tears in the skin that can help form wrinkles later. So how do you get the skin ready to go? With a chem peel, or better yet an enzyme chem peel. The average chem peel is a good idea because it helps to breakdown excess cell buildup at a much deeper level. But an enzyme peel is the greater option because it boosts the breakdown of those cells by targeting the proteins that bind those cells together. A more targeted approach that gets the job quicker, better, and with less chance of irritation in just one treatment. And a series of enzyme peels will works wonders for anybody looking to boost their radiance, and is ideal for those with sensitive skin and acne sufferers. Winter and early spring are actually the perfect time of year to have them done. Chances are you'll be out less and not risking excess sun damage. Plus what better time to reveal your new found glow than the season of rebirth.

6. Moisturize, moisturize, moisturize!

You're all soft and smooth from exfoliating and a chem peel. Now keep up your results with proper maintenance. Use your recommended skin care regimen as directed. Keep your soft glowing skin well into the rainy season.
